AC Interference and Drainage Methods of Buried Steel Pipelines

    • Based on AC interference measurements and drainage methods of a buried steel oil-transfer pipeline, the risk of AC interference, standards and drainage methods were discussed. The measurements confirmed that the DC interference was limited while the AC interference was seriously due to the influence of nearby electrified railway and high voltage transmission line. The clamp drainage technology was applied to limit the AC interference on the pipeline. In general, the clamp drainage technology was effective for the AC interference limitation, but did not reach intended expectancy in some part. The reason is discussed and the solutions are also introduced.
