Capillary Absorption of Chloride Ions in Unsaturated Concrete

    • The influence of relative humidity on chloride ion transportation in concrete was investigated. The tested concrete was placed in different humidity environments. Free chloride ion contents in concrete were tested at different times and different depths, and the influence of humidity, corrosion time and solution on chloride ion transportation in concrete was analyzed. It was found that with the decrease of relative humidity in concrete, the ability of capillary absorption of concrete became stronger. With the increase of corrosion time, the penetration depth of chloride ions got deeper gradually, and absorption rate in early time was faster than in later period. In addition, the chloride ion content in the surface increased more rapidly than inside the concrete. Compound ions accelerated the capillary absorption speed of chloride ions in concrete.
