Effect of Thermal Tension Reduction Process on Grooving Corrosion Performance of Electric Resistance Welded Oil Well Casing

    • The grooving corrosion performance of electric resistance welded (ERW) oil well casing after simulation of thermal tension reduction process was investigated by potentiostatic polarization method. It was found that the microstructure difference between base metal and weld zone and the stress in weld zone were two main causes of grooving corrosion of ERW tube. The thermal tension reduction process can considerably improve the grooving corrosion resistibility of ERW oil well casing. And the ERW tube can be used more in the field of oil drilling.
