Abstract
The soil corrosion behavior of 16Mn steel in a typical oilfield region was studied by site tests and simulation electrochemical tests. The results of site tests showed that the soil corrosion rate decreased as time passed, then the trend became weaker.Test results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed that the capacitive arcs with two time constants appeared early and diffusion impedance yielded lately.Corrosion process was dominated by electrochemical activation at earlier stage and then by diffusion. In addition, corrosion rate showed decline along with time, but when Warburg impedance appeared corrosion rate was intensified transiently.
