Crevice Corrosion Behavior of Titanium and Tiatanium Alloys

    • The crevice corrosions behaviors of the industrially pure titanium and several titanium alloys were studied by means of the standard evaluation method with crevice assembled by gasket, bolt and nut made of PTFE. The results showed that after the titanium alloys were exposed to the harsh crevice corrosion test environment (5 mol·L-1 NaCl, pH 2.8 ~ 3.2, boiling temperature) for 60 days, the crevice corrosion degress of titanium alloys depended on the composition of titanium alloys, among which TiNi was the most serious, followed by TA7, TC4, TA2 and Ti35, while TA9 and TA10 showed better resistance to crevice corrosion.
