Abstract
From analysis of the Fe content in hot-dip galvanized steel sheet and observation of cross sectional mistructure of the coating before flaking and surface patterns after flaking, the effect of Fe content in coating on flaking resistance of hot-dip galvanized coating was studied. The results show that the relationship between the Fe content in coating and coating flaking was as an “inverted S” curve, when the Fe content in the coating was 1.19 g/m2 to 1.32 g/m2, the amount of coating flaking was minimal, and the coatings all showed a pear channel characteristics.
