Application of Polymer Coatings in Anti-corrosion of Wet Chimneys

When wet desulphurization devices are installed in the coal-fired power plants, the flue gas becomes much more corrosive, and the chimney wall would be badly corroded by the wet flue gas. Polymer coatings have low price, wide application and are convenient to be constructed. At the same time, their properties have been greatly improved in the past years. With these advantages, polymer coatings show a bright future in the chimney anti-corrosion field. This paper discusses the kinds, properties and application situation of polymer coatings in the chimney anti-corrosion field. It aims to offer a reference for the design and protection of wet chimneys. The prospect of polymer coatings in this field is also discussed.
