Pitting Sensitivity of SUS304 Stainless Steel in Condensed Tap Water

    • The pitting sensibility of SUS304 stainless steel in tap water at different temperatures or different concentration multiples was studied using polarization curves. The influence of chloride on pitting corrosion resistance of the stainless steel was compared both in deionized water and tap water. The results showed that the pitting sensibility of the stainless steel rised with the increase of temperature and concentration multiple of the tap water.Chloride ion was more corrosive to stainless steel in deionized water than that in tap water.
