Corrosion Inhibition Performance of Quaternary Ammonium Salt of Elaeostearic Imidazoline

    • Quaternary ammonium salt of elacostearic imidazoline was synthesized by using elaeostearic acid, diethylenetriamine and benzyl chloride as the starting materials. The structure of the product was characterized by FITR spectrum. And its corrosion inhibition performance on N80 steel in HCl solution was investigated by weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization curve methods. The results show that the corrosion of N80 steel in HCl solution was inhibited in the presence of quaternary ammonium salt of elacostearic imidazoline. The corrosion inhibition efficiency of the product increased with the rise of inhibitor concentration. The corrosion rate of N80 steel increased with the rise of temperature and concentration of HCl solution, and the increase of HCl concentration did not change the corrosion inhibition efficiency of the inhibitor. Electrochemical results show that the quaternary ammonium salt is a mixed type inhibitor and mainly controls the cathodic reaction of N80 steel.
