Abstract
An epoxy-based composite coating containing various combinations of magnetic iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles and glitter gold color powder (K2O·3Al2O3·6SiO2·2H2O) were prepared by mechanical mixing method. Microhardness, adhesion and corrosion resistance of the new composites were studied by Vickers′ hardness test (HV test),cross-cut test, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and polarization curves, respectively. The results showed that the microhardness and adhesion of the novel composites containing fillers slightly increased compared with those of epoxy. The results also pointed out that the new composites had good anti-corrosion properties in artificial acid rainwater (ARW). Hence, those new composites can be applied to protective coating on brass ideally.
