Hydrogen Induced Cracking Corrosion Resistance of Pipeline Steels

    • The corrosion resistance of pipeline steels becomes more and more important with development of oil and gas industry. Test low carbon and ultra-low carbon pipeline steels were corroded by the solutions of NACE TM0284-2003 A and B, the experimental results and the influence factors on HIC sensibility were analyzed. It is shown that all of the test steels have fine corrosion resistance. The contents of C, Mn, P and S etc. are the key to assure corrosion resistance. The inclusion, segregation and banded structure in the steels increase HIC sensibility, while the fine-grain structure composed mainly of ferrite and dislocations advances corrosion resistance obviously.
